Hi,
My initials are MLK, but you can call me Maria. You might already know my background, but if not, here’s the quick version:
In 2006 I traveled to New York City for the first time, fell in love with the city, and then went back and forth between Denmark and NYC thirteen times before I finally moved here in 2011.
But already in 2007, I bought this domain so I could blog about my wanderlust. It turned into around 300 posts. Most of them are still private to this day, but I’ll gradually publish them as I feel they’re relevant. You write a lot of nonsense over the years, and not all of it needs new readers 😉
In 2010 I started writing more specifically about visiting NYC as a tourist, and that’s why I bought the domain turistinewyork.dk. The blog about being a tourist and how to get the best experiences grew into an actual tourism business over the next ten years. For many years I’ve been a licensed tour guide and have helped thousands of people with inspiration and advice for their own trips to the city.
I have a bachelor’s degree in hotel management, tourism, and entrepreneurship. I’m a mom to a boy born in 2016 and a girl born in 2020. Over the past years I’ve been traveling between Denmark, New York, and Las Vegas. And besides being self-employed, I also work as a freelance tour guide and tour manager for an American company that works with Danish travel agencies.
Hopefully the blog gets its renaissance during Covid-19, aka rona, where I, as an unemployed self-employed person, moved straight back to New York City because no matter what… this is where I feel most at home.
